Tauro: Pintxos | Tapas | Wine Bar

Tauro Pintxos Tapas Wine Bar focuses on cuisines from the Basque Country that will transport Filipinos to Southern Europe between Spain and South of France. Chef Patrice who has already displayed his epicurean passion and talent by launching Society Lounge, is taking a stab at another daring Food and Beverage model that presents a new culinary concept to Makati and probably to Philippines.

 

The name Pintxos comes from the Spanish verb “Pinchar” meaning to poke or to stab. The Pintxos tradition runs so deep in the Basque Country, that annual competition is held for the best Pintxos in the region. Similar to Tapas, Pintxos are generally served on a small slice of bread with a toothpick piercing them through the middle, using the freshest ingredients as toppings. Commonly fish and seafood, and many more local made product like cheese, ham, cold cuts and etc. The best way to enjoy the Pintxos is to combine it with a drink like Zurrito — A small glass of Beer, Cider or Sangria.

 

 

Tauro Pintxos Tapas Wine Bar seeks to be a step behind Michelin Starred restaurants but with a strong will of showcasing the best local produce and compulsory imported ingredients and serves some exclusive cold cuts imported directly from the Basque Region like Chorizo Iberico, Jamon Serrano and many more.

 

Here’s what I had:

PINTXOS:

  • Chorizo Quail Eggs Oms

  • Mushroom Aioli Sauce and Gratinated Cheese

My favorites are the Chicken Liver and Mushroom Crispy Onion, Smoke Salmon Scramble Eggs, Piperade with Chili Espellette & Jamon Serrano, and Roasted Chicken Rillette with Pickle

TAPAS:

  • Pintxos Morunos

  • Croquetas de Jamon Serrano

  • Prawn Croquettes Lobster Sauce

and my favorite Scallop Garlic Butter Gratin! Yum!

POSTREA:

  • Crème Brûlée Speculoos

  • Profiterole Salted Caramel with Chocolate Sauce

  • Red Berry and Strawberry Sherbet

Tauro Pintxos Tapas Wine Bar will continue to emphasize on traditional Basque recipes, with a contemporary approach. It’s a dining bar that welcomes everyone for a time to relax and appreciate different collections of wine, or simply a beer and the best selling SANGRIA, my fave!

Will definitely coming back and that’s for sure! 🙂
